[Happy 4th July] – 6 Things We Love About America!

By 4th July 2016 No Comments

America’s biggest summer holiday is upon us! A day of food, laughter and some seriously big firework displays. We felt we should celebrate with our friends across the pond too! So here are our top 6 things we just love about the good old USA…

Muscle Beach

Since the early 1930’s, people have travelled from all over the globe to show off their guns at Muscle Beach.

Very soon it became so popular, it transformed into the most famous outdoor gym in the world – playing a significant role in the physical fitness movement over the 20th century.

But enough of the history lesson! We love Muscle beach for many reasons, especially the fact that it doesn’t just attract the big players; it also attracts beginners and novices.

Plus it’s free for spectators!

CrossFit Games

Anything to do with CrossFit, we love! And that includes Reebok’s CrossFit Games. The annual event that started in 2007 has become a worldwide phenomenon, growing in popularity every year.

It’s brought the likes of Rich Froning Jnr and Camille Leblanc-Bazinet into the spotlight as two of the ‘fittest people’ on the planet and for that we are grateful.

In 2017, it’s expected to draw half a million participants – kudos Reebok!

Arnie

Even though he was born in Austria, for many people, Arnold Schwarzenegger is THE American dream.

The Hummer-driving, Sky-net destroying badass has accomplished it all – from arriving with no English and just two giant biceps to conquering Hollywood and becoming Governor of California.

We salute you, Arnie! You have shown the world that the American dream really is possible!

Burgers!

Don’t get us wrong – eating clean is the way forward, but when that beloved cheat meal comes around, there is nothing we love more than demolishing a mammoth cheeseburger!

And whom do we have to thank for this tasty invention – America of course! In fact, one American in particular – Lionel Sternberger.

At the age of 16, Sternberger (who’s name we love, by the way!) decided to slap some cheese onto a patty in his father’s sandwich shop and boom – the best invention in the world was made!

Gold’s Gym

The Mecca of Bodybuilding, as it’s commonly known, has to be the most famous gym worldwide.

Opened in 1965, the California-based gym has now become the largest chain of mixed-gender gyms on the planet with more than 700 locations in 20 countries! Quite impressive, right?

Not only has it dominated the gym world, it’s also making a big impression on apparel, with budding gym-goers donning vest tops with the famous circular logo.

They were also the creators of the Cardio Cinema, featuring a cinema projector screen and feature-length films with treadmills instead of seats – you clever people!

Celebrations

Finally, Let’s admit it, we’ve learned all there is to know about celebration from the US. From the Disney-styled Christmas to Halloween – they’ve made it all!

We have parades and we eat turkey, even Coca-Cola is part of our celebration during the holidays. Some of us even celebrate 4th July (like we are today!)

Bravo America – you’ve done the world well!

Happy 4th July!
