It seems like Instagram have really stepped up in the last few months, new interface, new Stories feature and now a new way of showcasing business profiles.
It’s something we have been waiting to see for a long time now. With so many businesses using Instagram to boost brand awareness and sales, it just seemed much more beneficial to give business profiles some extra tools to help.
But should you turn your Instagram profile into a business profile? Well let’s talk about the benefits it can bring and how to actually make the change.
What we know
Ok, so according to Instagram’s latest articles, there are currently two new tools that you will receive when switching your account to a business profile…
Call-to-action buttons are something all marketers love. They bring your business more leads – what’s not to love?!
In the past, people would usually comment on your photo with a particular question, as it was the only obvious way of making contact. This was quite messy and made the process of scanning through comments on every post tiresome as well as unrealistic if your business has a lot of activity.
With a Business Profile, there will be a new contact button within your bio where customers can easily contact you. This new tool makes the whole process cleaner. Furthermore, you can choose a number of ways for people to contact you: call, text or email.
This is a great new feature for business profiles and will make it much easier for customers to reach you.
Knowing of your audience is a key factor in having success online. Without knowing this, it makes it that much harder to deliver relevant content.
From what Instagram is describing it as now, it seems like, with Instagram insights, you’ll be able to see which posts perform well, which posts don’t, and what type of audience your posts are reaching. This is imperative to being able to create relevant content.
Learning the behaviours and demographics of your audience is powerful. We are not sure yet on how in depth this feature will be, but if it’s everything it says it’ll be…I’d give it a double tap.
The idea is that these tools will make your business work better on Instagram. Obviously, Instagram want you to succeed on their platform, thus keeping you using it. So now let’s look at how you turn your profile into a business profile.
How to switch
Switching your Instagram to a business profile is really simple. Many of you would have received a blue notification bar at the top of your profile. However, if you haven’t received this, or you have clicked it off without realising, there is another way to switch.
Go on your Instagram profile and click the settings cog in the top right-hand corner.
Here you will see a number of options. Simply scroll down until you see the “Switch to business profile” tab.
You will then be welcomed to Instagram Business with a short introduction, like so:
The next step is to connect your Instagram account with your Facebook profile and Facebook business page. Then, update your business’ contact information, including your email address, phone number, and address.
Once you have completed these small steps, your account will then be officially switched to an Instagram business profile – Voila!
