5 Places You’ve Forgot To Promote Your Website

By 10th June 2016 No Comments

Let’s face it – you could have the most badass website in your industry, but if people cannot find it then it’s pointless. You’ve got Facebook nailed down and Twitter but to be quite frank – you need to do more!

Successful fitness businesses online are exactly that – successful, due to getting their website out there. So here are 5 places you have most likely forgotten to promote your website on. Call this a friendly nudge…

YouTube – The most underrated social network.

YouTube sadly falls victim to the most underrated social network for the majority of most small businesses. Many fail to realise that YouTube is actually the second most popular search engine, behind Google.

With over a billion users, you really cannot afford to let the YouTube opportunity go a miss. Grab your target audience with some video content. Now before you start using the usual excuses: ‘I don’t have a good video camera’ or ‘I choke in front of the camera’ – I’m not asking to you create an Oscar winning movie. Just something that will generate views, shares and brand awareness.

With Google also indexing your YouTube videos, it will help people find your content and your website through Google searches.

Online Directories are still worthwhile

I get it – online directories can seem quite dated – especially with the nickname ‘The Online Yellow Pages’ which is something from our childhood – but they’re still extremely useful for driving traffic to your website.

Adding your site to online directories, such as Yelp, is also important as it greatly improves your site’s SEO by linking back to your website. When submitting your site, make sure to include important details like your location and business category so that your website will appear in sub-categories where new and potential clients can easily find you.

Your Visitor’s Inbox

It’s a marketing tool that’s been active for centuries now. Yes writing letters is still effective. In these modern times, it has changed somewhat – now being emails. All the successful businesses send emails to their customers and potential customers and you should be doing the same!

From tips, tricks, and promotions to a simple “we miss you” email, they’re all marketing techniques.

Make sure you’re offering great content with plenty of incentives for the reader to visit your site (new product, updates, blog post, promotion, sale, tips, quizzes, to name half a dozen). Use your creative side – don’t just send emails when you have a new offer. Send your subscribers Happy Birthday emails, with an exclusive offer. Everybody loves birthday wishes!

Get with-it!

If your target audience is within the 20-35 bracket, then you most definitely need to get yourself a Snapchat account.

The newest kid on the social media block is also the coolest kid on the block right now, and will help generate more engagement for your business if used right.

Simply send some fun, evocative snaps to your clients and subscribers and start generating fresh engagement. Please steer clear of the whole formal style posts, though. Snapchat is cool and trendy – not cooperate.

Planet Blog!

Your blog, in my opinion, is the best place to begin interacting with your client base and creating website engagement.

Providing original, authentic and engaging blog posts will help your following get to know your business. This will build credibility and trust.

In order to push your website up the Google ladder, be sure to optimize your blog by writing often and including lots of long tail keywords (longer, specific phrases that describe your site in more detail). Check out this blog post for more winning tips.
