Rumour has it that your Instagram may soon look very different, if it doesn’t already…
Yes, it seems that the photo sharing social media network are finally modernising their app with a cleaner, flatter and thinner look.
As well as turning all text black, including username and likes, Instagram has also transformed the icons that sit at the bottom of the screen.
The camera icon in the middle is no longer a square with a circle inside and now resembles an actual camera. Meanwhile, the Activity icon normally represented with a heart inside of a comment box is now simply a heart. And the user profile icon is no longer your profile picture, but an icon of a person.
It seems that the new look is having mixed reviews at present; some stating that it looks boring and has no personality. But many users, like us, disagree.
We feel the app looks much cleaner and modern and cuts out all the bulky bits from the old Instagram. Plus…when you revert back to the old layout – you realise just how dated it actually looks!
Instagram frequently tests new features in select regions on small groups of users. Until they’re official, these features only show a glimpse of what the Instagram team is messing around with behind the scenes. Some tested features are never pushed out for everyone.
We will just have to hope we see this new layout running sooner rather than later!
